About Our Rochester Location
The local Rochester beer scene has found its hub! Three Heads, Naked Dove, Swiftwater, Stoneyard, Knucklehead, Beak & Skiff Orchards, and Lost Borough Brewing all reside here along with countless other American craft brethren. Come join us for regular events hosted by the brew masters themselves – tap takeovers, pairing events, beer infusion tappings, and custom-tailored “Beer ‘U’ group courses to name a few. Or, if you’re seeking brews from another zip code, state, or foreign land, a small batch bourbon, whiskey, or specialty cocktail, we have that too. We continually rotate our stock at The Beer Market in order to bring you the freshest and most current selections of American craft beers we are able to find.
Not only are we all that, we are all that “and a bag of chips” — or, gourmet specialty pizzas, delicious sandwiches, salads, appetizers and desserts, that is.

What got you interested in Beer: My dad worked in the wine & spirits industry for 31 years, so my joke was always “carrying on the family business”, but the real spark for me was a few years ago when the company I was working for installed a station to fill growlers, and started carrying local Rochester-area beers. They gave us all 50 page packets about beer styles, and I was instantly hooked.
What is your favorite beer: I’m admittedly very biased, but my favorite beer to drink lately has been a collaboration I helped make with Empire Brewing Company in Syracuse. We brewed a riff on a New England-style IPA utilizing flaked rice in the grain bill, late additions of Citra, Nelson Sauvin, and Sorachi Ace hops, and a special strain of sake yeast. The beer has a soft body with a slightly dry finish, and the juicy, tropical fruit notes of a typical NEIPA are replaced with flavors reminiscence of lemongrass and white wine. The beer will probably be long gone by the time anyone reads this, but it went over very well so maybe Empire will brew it again someday!
What makes Beerhead special: What makes The Beer Market special to me is that we carry such an eclectic mix of products. We serve some exclusive, world-class beers, but we also still work with a TON of local breweries, in addition to all the classic staples on American craft beer.
What would you like the world to know about Beerhead: We’re constantly working on offbeat event ideas and collaboration beers, so following us on social media is a great way to stay in the loop about what we’ve got going on!
Anything else quirky and fun: I’m a huge nerd for a lot of things besides beer, so I love when breweries work in obscure pop culture references into beer names!
Favorite food to eat with Beer: Charcuterie boards, especially when drinking flights. I always enjoy breaking everything down and trying the flavor combinations of each individual component against each beer.
Favorite local brewery: This is a very tough question because I love a lot of our local breweries, but I would probably have to say Swiftwater. It’s located right down the street from us so it makes for a good after-work stop, and their selections are always very varied which I really appreciate. My favorite beer from them is Muncheez Truck, an imperial stout with chocolate, peanut butter, and coconut.
